Turning 39: Building a Life That Feels Intentional

I turned 39 this year. And for the first time in a long time, I don’t feel the need to rush into what’s next.

Not because I’ve stopped growing. But because I’ve gotten clearer on what actually matters.

Less noise. Less pressure. Less chasing more for the sake of it.
And more intention at home, in my routines, and in the way I spend my time.

This Season Looks Different

I’m married, almost seven years now. We have a two year old who has completely reshaped what our days look like, in the best way.
Life is full, but it’s not chaotic.

Because somewhere along the way, I stopped trying to do everything
and started focusing on doing the right things well.

My Version of a Simple Life

For me, a slower, more intentional life does not mean unproductive. It looks like:

  • Waking up early before the house is fully awake
  • Moving my body first thing, whether it is a workout, time on my vibration plate, or a quiet reset
  • Small routines that help me feel grounded. Lately that has been my red-light mask and sauna
  • A home that is picked up at the end of the day so mornings feel calm

Because a simple home is not one where nothing is happening. It is one where everything has a rhythm.

A Home That Supports Real Life

I am not striving for perfection. But I am intentional about how our home functions. I want it to feel:

  • Calm when you walk in
  • Easy to maintain
  • Lived in, but never overwhelming

That means staying on top of the small things, not out of pressure, but because it makes everything else feel lighter. This is what intentional living at home looks like for me.

Not spotless for the sake of appearances, but thoughtfully cared for so it supports our everyday life.

Why This Matters More to Me Now

Losing my mom when she was just 54 changed the way I see time. She loved her family deeply. That was always the center of everything.

I think about that often now. In the way I structure my days. In what I prioritize. In how I want our home to feel for the people inside it.

It is not about doing more. It is about making sure the life we are building actually feels good to live in.

The Shift at 39

What has changed most is this: I do not want an overfilled life. I want a life that feels full in the right ways.

One that has:

  • Structure, but not pressure
  • Routines, but also room to breathe
  • A home that feels calm, not constantly in progress

I still care about growth. I still care about creating. But I am no longer interested in doing it in a way that feels rushed or heavy.

What I Am Focusing on This Year

At 39, I am focusing on refining, not reinventing.

  • Keeping our home simple, functional, and calm
  • Staying consistent with routines that support my energy
  • Being present for this season of life
  • Letting go of anything that adds unnecessary noise

If your life feels full, but not in the right ways, this is your reminder.

You do not need to do less just for the sake of doing less. You need to be more intentional with what you keep in your life.

Your home. Your routines. Your time.

A Simple Reset to Start

If you want a place to begin, try this. Choose one part of your day, not your whole life. Maybe it’s your morning. Maybe it’s your evening reset, and ask:

  • What would make this feel calmer?
  • What would make this feel easier?
  • What actually works for me right now?

And start there.

Final Thoughts

Turning 39 has not been about slowing down completely. It’s been about moving through life with more clarity.

Being thoughtful with my time.
Creating a home that supports us.
Building routines that feel good to come back to every day.

And focusing on what matters most, without overcomplicating the rest.
