How to Layer Welcome Mats
The front porch is one of the first places to make a good first impression when it comes to your home. And there is no simpler way to greet guests than with an inviting welcome mat at the front door.
How to Layer Welcome Mats
Start with a small area rug (approximately 2×3 or 3×4), as a way to define and anchor the space.
Then, add a welcome mat on top of the area rug to create dimension. I usually opt for a colorful and/or patterned area rug and layer a more neutral welcome mat on top, but find a style and color palette that works for you!
Doormats can easily be updated every so often as the seasons change. For instance, I’ll swap out my blue and white striped area rug (which is great for summer) for a fall-colored plaid doormat in Autumn. And for Christmas, I’ll place my red and white striped rug underneath my welcome mat.
So tell me, how do you decorate your front porch for the seasons?
